Accessibility Statement

Last updated: May 12, 2025

Our commitment

Blucalculator is committed to making our tools accessible to all users, including those with disabilities. We aim to conform to WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines across all pages.

What we've built in

Keyboard navigation

All interactive elements — inputs, buttons, dropdowns, and accordions — are fully operable via keyboard alone.

Screen reader support

Semantic HTML, ARIA labels, and descriptive button text ensure screen readers can convey content accurately.

Sufficient colour contrast

Text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (≥4.5:1 for normal text, ≥3:1 for large text).

Resizable text

The layout responds correctly when browser text size is increased up to 200%.

No flashing content

The site contains no animations that flash more than three times per second.

Focus indicators

Visible focus rings are present on all interactive elements for keyboard users.

Known limitations

We are continuously improving accessibility. Current known limitations include:

  • Some dynamic calculator results may not announce automatically to screen readers. We are working to add live-region ARIA attributes.
  • Complex SVG diagrams (e.g., the density visualiser) currently lack extended text descriptions. Alt-text improvements are planned.
  • Custom dropdown menus may have incomplete ARIA patterns in some browsers. We are iterating on this.

Standards and guidelines

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA as our accessibility standard. We also follow best practices from the ARIA Authoring Practices Guide.
